11^th April 2016, CDR welcomed researchers from Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, accompanied by CDR Board Member, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Nazalan Mohd. Najimudin from School of Biological Sciences USM. INBIOSIS delegates Dr. Ng Chyan Leong, Dr. Goh Hoe Han and Dr. Syarul Nataqain Baharum mentioned their intention to collaborate in ketum (Mitragyna speciosa) research. During the visit, CDR researchers shared their current findings on ketum/mitragynine from social aspect to neurobehaviour and blood-brain barrier research. Dr. Ng Chyan Leong pointed that data on ketum using systems biology approaches are still lacking, and the group from INBIOSIS is keen to embark on projects utilizing systems biology approaches to study ketum. In line with CDR HICoE niche area which is Behavioral Research in Addiction, we welcome this research expansion and will provide assistance where necessary.
