CDR PUBLIC TALK SHARES HOW LAB RESEARCH CAN LEAD TO MARKET SUCCESS IN HEALTH PRODUCTS
PENANG, 9 April 2025 — The Centre for Drug Research (CDR) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently hosted a public talk called “From the Lab to the Market: A Nutraceuticals Development Journey.” The session featured Dr. Alejandro Espinosa Sosa, a doctor and entrepreneur, presenting ways scientific research can be turned into successful health products.
Founder of the company Health Attractor and Chief Medical Officer of Matter-Smart Nutrients, Dr. Sosa shared personal experience in taking discoveries from the lab and developing them into products for consumers. Dr. Sosa holds a medical degree from Havana, Cuba, a certification in Functional Medicine from the U.S., and a Master’s degree in Molecular Medicine from Germany. The talk covered the importance of proving that these products work and the challenges scientists face when moving their work into the business world.
The talk explored the rapidly growing global market for nutraceuticals, which are products made from food sources that provide additional health benefits. These products continue to gain popularity, but strong scientific backing remains essential. The session also highlighted how researchers can make a real-world impact by learning how to move ideas beyond the lab. Held in a hybrid format, the event is part of CDR's Public Talk Series, aimed at promoting innovation and helping scientists transform their research into practical solutions
