CDR INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY LECTURER (EXPATRIATE) IN PHARMACOLOGY, PHARMACOMETRICS, OR CHEMISTRY

The Centre for Drug Research (CDR), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), invites applications from qualified expatriate candidates for the position of University Lecturer (Contract). This opportunity is open to experts in Pharmacology, Pharmacometrics, or Chemistry, with specialisation areas aligned with CDR’s ongoing research focus.
Fields of Specialisation
Candidates may apply under one of the following specialisations:
- Pharmacology – focusing on drug metabolism and/or drug–drug interactions.
- Pharmacometrics – specialising in pharmacodynamics–pharmacokinetics.
- Chemistry – specialising in medicinal chemistry or computational chemistry.
Qualifications and Criteria
Applicants must possess a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in a relevant field from a recognised higher education institution. Candidates should have:
- At least four (4) Q1/Q2-indexed publications (WoS) as First Author or Corresponding Author.
- Teaching experience of at least one semester, or industry experience of three years, or postdoctoral experience of two years.
Preference will be given to candidates with a research track record in Behavioural Research in Addiction, psychoactive compounds (particularly plant-based NPS), and experience leading research at international academic institutions or within industry.
Additional Expectations
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong English communication skills and evidence of research excellence.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate within proactive research teams.
- Experience as a Principal Investigator and evidence of professional qualifications (e.g., RPh, Ts., Ch.M or equivalent).
- Familiarity with the Malay language is an advantage.
Job Responsibilities
The appointed lecturer will be responsible for:
- Conducting research, supervision, teaching, and academic administration within their area of specialisation.
- Contributing to training, consultancy, commercialisation, and community engagement activities consistent with the mission of CDR and Universiti Sains Malaysia.
