SOLE REPRESENTATIVE FROM MALAYSIA SECURED INTERNATIONAL GRANT FOR MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCH
7-9 NOVEMBER 2025, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA – CDR Academic, Dr. Siti Rafidah Yusof collaborated with Associate Prof. Dr. Pragya Komal from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS-Pilani), Hyderabad, India to investigate the mechanisms of vitamin D3 regulation influencing the blood-brain barrier function in schizophrenia. The project is awarded an international funding by International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and Wellcome Trust under the Neuroscience Capacity Accelerator for Mental Health (NCAMH) Program. Under the program, the Awardees and Collaborators are engaging in a series of dynamic professional development activities, aimed at fostering new skills, broadening networks, and supporting career growth. These activities are central to Sustainable Development Goal 4, which emphasizes Quality Education.

The research teams from 12 awarded projects from 15 countries around the world had recently meet in person in Cape Town, South Africa for a 3-day Capacity Building Seminar. After the seminar, the participants also had the opportunity to attend and present their work at the 7th Global Mental Health Summit 2025 in Cape Town where Dr. Siti presented prior work of Dr. Pragya Komal that led to the NCAMH grant award.
